I want to show you a Barbie that has a very special place in my collection: she’s Twirly Curls Barbie. But why is she so special? Let me tell you just a little bit of the story.
This Twirly Curls Barbie, made in Taiwan, in 1982, came to me second-hand. You could see that her original owner spent many hours of fun playing with her. Twirly Curls had badly damaged hair, a dirty face, and curved, stained legs. Her clothes weren’t in very good condition either. But, all she needed was a little love and attention. Like all of us, we go through painful processes, but that end up getting the best of us. That process is something I’ll share another time.
Twirly Curls Barbie is Mattel’s doll # 5579. You can style her hair in fabulous twists n’ twirls! She’s a beautiful blonde Barbie. Twirly Curls makes a fashion statement of fun with her long twisty, swirly curls and her hot pink style! Her bright tricot bodysuit has a sweetheart neckline and halter ties. Over her suit, she wears a matching ruffled skirt and wide silvery belt. She completes this carefree fashion look with open-toe high heels.
