Barbie Makes Mini Brands Create MasterChef Cheesecake

Barbie is spending some time in the kitchen today, making one of my favorite miniature desserts from the Mini Brands Create MasterChef collection: the Almond & Apricot Cheesecake. This is actually my favorite dish from the MasterChef collection, so I knew it had to be the one I featured in this Barbie cooking scene. I set everything up inside Barbie’s Totally Real House kitchen and photographed her as if she were really preparing the tiny dessert from scratch.

The Barbie I chose for this scene is the Enchanted Evening Barbie Replay the Classics, one of the dolls inspired by Barbie’s classic vintage era. For this photo shoot, however, I dressed her in Barbie Fashion HYV05: a sweet mint-green dress with a pink bow print, puff sleeves, and I included a matching bow in her hair. I love how the soft colors of the outfit work with the kitchen and the miniature ingredients, giving the scene a charming Barbie look while keeping the focus on her little MasterChef project.

Barbie starts by getting all of her ingredients ready on the kitchen counter. The tiny packages make it look as though she is actually following a MasterChef recipe, and I especially enjoy photographing miniature food this way. Instead of simply displaying the completed dessert, I wanted to show Barbie in the middle of the process, surrounded by everything she needs to make her cheesecake.

The Mini Brands Create MasterChef collection lets you create miniature versions of dishes inspired by MasterChef. The collection includes 11 different miniature dishes, with the pieces and accessories needed to assemble them. One of the fun details is the miniature chef hat with a UV light used during the creation process. Each capsule also includes a QR code that you can scan to access the recipe for making the dish in real life, adding another fun connection between the miniature MasterChef experience and the full-size recipe.

Out of all the miniature dishes in the collection, the Almond & Apricot Cheesecake is definitely my favorite. I love all the tiny components that come with it, including the cheesecake, apricot halves, apricot jam, and sliced almonds. Once everything comes together, the finished dessert has so many little details that it looks especially good in close-up photos. It is one of those miniature foods that immediately made me want to create an entire Barbie scene around it.

Creating this scene inside the Totally Real House was just as much fun as putting together the miniature dessert. The kitchen gives Barbie the perfect place to prepare her MasterChef creation, and the scale of the Mini Brands pieces works beautifully in the Barbie environment. These are the kinds of details that make creating Barbie dioramas so enjoyable for me because a tiny miniature accessory can become part of a complete story.

After letting the cheesecake cool, Barbie starts decorating it by carefully placing the sliced almonds on top. The capsule includes tiny accessories that make the whole process even more fun, including miniature utensils that Barbie can use while preparing her dessert. Seeing those little tools alongside the ingredients really makes it feel like she is working on an actual miniature MasterChef recipe.

Next comes the apricot jam. Barbie uses the miniature spatula included with the capsule to add the jam to the top of the cheesecake. I love these little details because the accessories are not just there for display—they help create the illusion that Barbie is actually preparing the dessert. The tiny spatula makes such a difference when photographing the process.

The final step is adding the apricot halves that come in the tiny “can.” Barbie uses the miniature tweezers included in the capsule to carefully pick up and place the apricot pieces on top of the cheesecake. The combination of the tiny can, the tweezers, and the finished dessert makes this one of my favorite parts of the whole Mini Brands Create MasterChef experience.

After assembling all the components, Barbie finally has her Almond & Apricot Cheesecake ready. The apricots, almonds, cheesecake, and tiny packaging make the finished dessert look surprisingly realistic for something so small. This was the part I was most excited to photograph because this particular Mini Brands Create MasterChef dish has always stood out to me as my favorite from the collection.

I really enjoyed turning this Mini Brands Create MasterChef Almond & Apricot Cheesecake into a Barbie cooking scene. From the Enchanted Evening Barbie Replay doll and her mint-and-pink fashion to all the tiny ingredients spread across the kitchen counter, every detail helped create the little story I had in mind. And since the Almond & Apricot Cheesecake is my favorite from the collection, it felt only right to give it its own moment in Barbie’s Totally Real House kitchen. For me, this is what makes collecting Barbie and creating dioramas so much fun—taking miniature pieces and turning them into a scene that feels like part of Barbie’s world.
