With “mirrored” sunglasses and real tan lines, Sun Lovin’ Malibu PJ announces with her unique groovy style that summer is here! She’s one of the most amazing dolls in my collection!

I have to tell you that this is my first PJ doll ever! I’m amazed because I never thought I would have her in my collection. PJ is one of Barbie’s best friends, introduced by Mattel in 1969. In 1978 she was part of the Sun Lovin’ Malibu line along with Barbie, Ken, Christie, and Skipper. This was a Barbie line that caused some controversy with its tan lines because it was thought to normalize sun exposure that could lead to skin cancer among the little ones. But hey, that’s another topic!

Sun Lovin’ Malibu PJ doll #1187.

The gorgeous Sun Lovin’ Malibu PJ, made in Philippines, has a cute and innocent steffie face sculpt, beautiful violet eyes with purple eyeshadow, and straight blonde hair tied into beaded pigtails which gives her a youthful and fun touch. She has a twist-n-turn waist, straight arms, and non-bending legs. Another version of this PJ doll came out with bended arms, but it’s rare and hard to find.

“The doll with the peek-a-boo tan!”

Sun Lovin’ Malibu PJ is wearing a purple monogrammed bikini, and she comes with a beach bag (mine is missing), and “mirrored” sunglasses, exclusive to the Sun Lovin’ Malibu line. But what sets Sun Lovin’ Malibu PJ apart from other Malibu PJ dolls is her peek-a-boo tan! From this you can see that Sun Lovin’ Malibu PJ really loves beach and tan her skin in the sun! Are you going to enjoy the beach this summer? Don’t forget to use sunscreen to take care of your skin while you have fun in the sun.
